Bad Filming
In 2023, during one of our usual weekend rides, something happened that made me laugh — and think. A friend of mine had just learned how to do a wheelie. He pulled up next to me, proud and smiling, but something about him looked strange. I looked closer — and to my shock, his iPhone was sticking out of his helmet, right below his eyes.
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“What the hell are you doing?” I asked.
He replied, completely serious,
“I’m recording myself. The phone is filming.”
Naturally, I told him to get a GoPro — it’s safer, easier, made for this.
But then he said something that stuck with me:
“Why would I buy a tiny action cam when I’ve already spent $1000 on a phone that shoots cinematic video?”
And honestly… he had a point. We all carry incredible cameras in our pockets, yet there’s no truly safe or convenient way to use them for action filming. That’s when the idea hit me:
What if I could create something that lets riders film with their phones — comfortably, safely, and hands-free?
First Hoodie Sketch
Over the next few months, I started sketching concepts, looking for fabrics, and figuring out how to bring the idea to life. I went through six different sewing contractors — and none of them could get the vision right. Either they didn’t understand it or they turned it into something completely different.
But I didn’t give up.
By the end of 2023, the first real prototype of the POV Hoodie™ was born. I showed it to my local moto crew — and the response was instant. Everyone loved it. They tested it. They gave feedback. They helped shape it.
